Hatha Yoga Classes
Note: These services will be not be held starting on Monday, December 2 through Thursday, January 30. They will resume again on Monday, February 3, 2020.
Restorative yoga is a method of hatha yoga that combines a gentle sequence of simple postures, using long hold times, with the assistance of props such as bolsters, blocks and straps. Practicing postures while using props provides a completely supportive condition where the body is allowed to relax in a passive way releasing tension and opening energetic blocks. The more your body is supported in the poses the deeper the sense of relaxation.
The slower movements with long hold times allow you to gain a deep experience of the postures as well as the breath. You are able to have more awareness of where you might be holding tension in the body. It brings awareness to any thoughts and emotions that may arise, giving you the opportunity to let go and relax into your inner space and be in the present moment.
Restorative yoga helps to soothe the nervous system by improving the function of the parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for slowing down your bodily functions and to conserve energy. Restorative yoga is beneficial to major bodily functions, conserves energy, and improves general wellbeing by toning and improving the functions of the parasympathetic nervous system which is responsible for digestion, sexual arousal, and cranial nerve supply to the heart, lungs, pancreas, liver and kidneys. This allows for renewal and rejuvenation at a cellular level. Benefits include optimizing energy flow to the organs, tissue renewal and reduced stress.

"Kashi's yoga classes are by far the most wonderful I've ever attended, and I cannot imagine going anywhere else. It's much more than the method and style of the movements. Kashi possesses a nature of such gentleness and awareness... she guides you through the breath and the movements in such a way that you can sense the thread of connection between her and everyone in the room. One can adjust the props to accommodate comfort level, flexibility and physical condition. There is never any pressure to move beyond one's own threshold. The fact that the space allows for a small number of students at a time is incredibly beneficial, in that it allows for an intentionally intimate setting and personal attention. Anyone at any level will feel completely comfortable in every conceivable way. Kashi offers her gift of yoga practice in a way that is both soothing and refreshing, and I can hardly say enough about how her own lovely energy contributes to the overall experience."
